JASPER (ALLIGATOR)
Gumbo pond is an oasis of peace and calm in the otherwise busy and eventful neighborhood. That’s because Jasper lives there, and a more laid-back ‘gator you will never meet. Jasper can usually be found doing quiet, reflective activities, like fishing from Gumbo Rock (not that he ever catches anything), looking for pretty stones on the shore, or cloud-gazing.
Jasper is a great resource for Rabbit and Mouse. He often acts as the ‘voice of science’ – pointing out when an assumption they’ve made is not quite right. (For example, that you can’t actually make winter start by pulling the last autumn leaf off the tree.) When asked for advice, Jasper is glad to offer his insight – though he never tells them exactly what to do.
